Like it or not, KJ has been the talk of everyone. It is the greed that has the focus. The closeness to Singapore is another. PM, on singapore was too defensive, when he talked of rambutan, apple and orange. If PM is going to lose popularity, it is due to KJ. Nobody else and nothing else.
Good Luck.
But how would one measure popularity drop in this PRU 12?

On Ruhanie and Radzi
Kemudian keadaan pun bergolaklah.

ELECTION 2008:
Ghani seals MB's post by defending Serom seat
By : Sim Bak Heng
JOHOR BARU, sat:
Even before dissolution of Parliament Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman’s political future has been the number one topic on everyone’s lips in the State and even he himself was uncertain.
Today, the guessing game effectively ended when he was confirmed as the Serom State seat candidate, extinguishing all speculation that he would be moving up to the Federal level.Barring any last minute changes, his continuation as Menteri Besar after the elections is almost a sure thing given that the other front-runner for the post, Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin has been retained as candidate for the Pasir Gudang parliamentary seat.Ghani appeared relieved, jovial and thoroughly in command during the press conference after announcing the list of Johor BN candidates at his residence. When asked how he felt now that all the speculation is behind him, he said: “Its been a long way and every election has its uniqueness. You just have to face what may come one day at a time.
“What is important in the end is the party and that the party wins convincingly.” The Johor BN chairman went on to thank BN chairman Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for putting his trust in him and promised to work harder in the immediate campaign which begins tomorrow (today) and the months and years ahead.“Me and the other State Assembly candidates will ensure that Johor will deliver a 100 per cent victory for BN.”
NOTA: Good luck Ghani. Can I say this to you. You are a real gentleman! A rarity nowadays.

radzi complaining......
sisipan...
NOTA: I cant say much Radzi. Is it Shahidan?... Is it YOU?... Is it Azmi?... Ask kampung people how they feel about you, not Shahidan or Azmi.... just ask them about you... that may bring some perspective.

On Idris
Presiden PAS diarak lima ribu penyokong, Umno Marang kucar-kacir

Calon-calon BN diiringi sekitar 500 orang penyokong sahaja.
Parlimen Marang mempunyai 74,813 pengundi.
Umno Marang kucar-kacir
- mks.

ANNuar Musa: Debate without substance
Cerita berkaitan Pertubuhan Pembebasan Pattani Bersatu (Pulo), tiba-tiba muncul.
Adun Kok Lanas itu cuba memasuki versi 'very perfect person'.
Anggota Exco, Takiyuddin Hassan, ketua pembangkang seolah-olah bermain bola seorang diri, sehingga akhirnya termengah-mengah.

Annuar Musa: by election
Pengkalan Pasir by-election: not to benefit the constituency, but to prove a point
M.G.G.Pillaipillai@streamyx.com
The National Front (BN) set the pace for the by-election of the Pengkalan Pasir state seat in Kelantan. It can because it owns the media. PAS has fallen into a trap. But it is the National Front through UMNO that is fighting tooth and nail to wrest the seat which it had lost in the general election by a mere 56 votes.
The by-election is the result of the death of the PAS state assemblyman. The main problem for UMNO is that its man is Dato' Annuar Musa, head of the state UMNO party. He has many minuses to his credit, which is why the by-election is conducted by UMNO bigwigs from elsewhere in the country. He is at loggerheads with other UMNO wannabe leaders, including a federal former minister, Dato' Mustapa Mohamed.

Penyelewengan PPRT-Siapa Benar? - Satu Catatan

Kelantan minus one.
KUALA LUMPUR, 24 Feb (Hrkh) - PAS menang tanpa bertanding bagi kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Kijang di Kelantan apabila pencalonan calon Barisan Nasional (BN) ditolak.
Calon PAS, Wan Ubaidah Omar menang tanpa bertanding apabila pencalonan calon BN, Mustopha Ahmed ditolak.
NOTA: As far as we know, they are very stringent. I mean in choosing candidates. Or candidates refuse to declare his bankrupcy status?..

Pemuda for Perlis
Youth wing to ensure Barisan sweeps Perlis seats
KANGAR: Perlis Umno Youth has vowed to help Barisan Nasional win all the three parliamentary and 15 state seats in the general election now that Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim is defending his Tambun Tulang state seat.
When it was speculated earlier that Shahidan might be dropped as a candidate, there was talk of mass resignation in the Perlis Umno Youth. The depressed mood among the members switched to a cheerful disposition following Shahidan’s announcement.
“He is our idol and we will work hard to ensure that he continues to helm the state,” declared Kangar Umno Youth head Hamuner Hamzah at the Mentri Besar’s official residence.
“We are thankful to Datuk Seri Pak Lah (Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) who accepted our views and proposed Datuk Seri Shahidan for the Tambun Tulang state seat,” he told Bernama.
The Perlis Wanita Umno and Puteri Umno also echoed the pledge of the youth wing to help the Barisan win all seats.
Except for the Sanglang state seat won by PAS, Barisan won all the seats in Perlis in the 2004 general election.
NOTE: this for Radzi and Azmi to look and read.

Razak baginda... pity you
SHAH ALAM: Just what triggered an outburst from political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda in court yesterday?
This was the question on the minds of those present at the High Court for the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial. The drama started before proceedings began in the morning when Razak’s father, Datuk Abdullah Malim Baginda, whispered something to his son who was in the dock.Razak’s demeanour changed and he stood up and walked back to the holding cell as proceedings had not yet begun. He turned, faced his father angrily and shouted: “Shall I shout it out?”
His father pointed his finger at him and indicated no.Razak did not let up: “I’m innocent! I’m innocent,” he said loudly before going into the cell.He did not look his normal, self-assured and smiling self when he returned to the dock minutes later for the start of yesterday’s proceedings. But just as those present in court thought that the side-show was over, Razak started again after trial judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin adjourned proceedings for lunch. His father went up to him and again whispered something into his ears. Razak jumped up from his seat and in an animated way shouted: “Oh no, oh no.”He then kicked the dock gate angrily as he walked out, stunning the court room into silence. It did not end there.
He then banged on the lock-up door and looked terribly upset. He was also in tears. Those present, including family members and reporters, were taken aback to see Razak’s unprecedented behaviour in court since the trial began in June. Abdullah also appeared stunned but stood silently. A family member of co-accused, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, then approached Razak’s mother, Datin Rohana Abdullah, urging her to pacify her son. Rohana, who was seated in the public gallery, quickly walked to the lock-up to calm Razak. By then Razak’s counsel Wong Kian Kheong, who had left the court room earlier, returned upon been informed of his client’s outburst, and went straight into the lock-up. Wong refused to say what Razak’s outburst was about.
Proceedings, meanwhile, were not disrupted.Celcom Malaysia Berhad’s core network operations general manager Nik Kamarudin Nik Ka, the 64th witness, was still on the stand. He has been testifying from Monday as the prosecution wanted him to clarify the disrepancies in Azilah’s mobile phone call details record and his itemised bill.
Zaki told Nik Kamarudin that his testimony would have only taken 30 minutes if the witness had been systematic in presenting the records from the two documents.“The records are not in order and the mobile phone numbers, which is in small print, has caused me a headache,” he said.Azilah, 32, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 37 , both members of the Special Action Squad, are charged with Altantuya’s murder at Mukim Bukit Raja, Selangor between 10pm on Oct 19, and 1am on Oct 20 , 2006. Razak, 48, is charged with abetting them.Hearing was adjourned to Monday.

Razak, 48, is charged with abetting them.Hearing was adjourned to Monday.

extract from crankshaft:
Before the hearing began at 9:30 am, Razak Baginda's father had whispered something to him. This made Razak angry the whole day. Finally, about three hours later, Razak Baginda could not stand it any longer and exploded. What did he say?
~
TheSun newspaper carried the story, complete with Razak Baginda's outburst. However, the Home Ministry asked The Sun to withdraw their first run which carried the 'Matilah Kau Pak Lah!' outburst by Razak Baginda. TheSun had to withdraw thousands of copies of their print run early this morning.Strange things are happening in the country, folks. No angels are involved. Only devils.

radzi versus shahidan
Too many Umno ‘tigers’ on a hillock
INSIGHTBy JOCELINE TAN
The internal politicking in Perlis has been described as a case of too many tigers on a small hill but the top Umno leadership grew worried when the rivalry between Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Datuk Radzi Sheikh Ahmad went public. WHEN Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim arrived in Mecca for the Haj last month, he thought he would be taking a break from Umno politics.
But soon after the Perlis Mentri Besar checked into his hotel, he ran into his Umno colleagues including his good friend and Ketereh MP Datuk Alwi Che Ahmad whose sister lives in Mecca where she runs a small hotel.
Alwi was surprised that Shahidan had managed to get in three days after the deadline for pilgrims to enter Mecca for the all-important Haj. When asked how he had managed it, Shahidan merely smiled and quipped: “Malaikat tolong saya” (with some help from the angels).
He had also brought along the former mufti of Perlis as well as the new and rather controversial one, Dr Mohd Asri Zainal Abidin. But his plans for a political respite were not to be for he was soon having his meals with his Umno friends and talking, what else, politics.
Besides, Shahidan has been in the spotlight the last few months for the wrong reasons.
He has been embroiled in a very public feud with none other than Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad who is also Home Minister and Kangar MP. The top Umno leadership, concerned about Umno’s chances in the next general election, has told the pair to tone down their disagreements.
But as many in Umno are aware, Radzi is not the only one having problems with Shahidan.
Arau MP Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Razlan Jamalullail and Padang Besar MP and Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Azmi Khalid also have their share of problems with the Mentri Besar.
As one ministerial aide put it: “It’s really weird. There are only three MPs in Perlis and they do not get along with the MB.”
None of them were on the state Umno liaison committee headed by Shahidan until recently when Azmi was appointed information head. Another anomaly is that none of the three MPs are division chiefs which is so important in Umno politics. Shahidan's supporters say the MPs, particularly Radzi and Azmi, chose not to contest division posts whereas Syed Razlan is still new to division politics.
Some like Alwi have described the situation as “too many tigers on a small hill,” the implication being that Perlis is too small for so many political big guns. The dispute between the “Umno tigers” touched new heights last week when the normally reticent Radzi lost his cool and slammed the “culture of factionalism” in Perlis which he said had caused political instability and turned the state into a laughing stock.
Then, in a stunning blow, he said Shahidan’s leadership should be changed for the stability of the party. It was the first time in a long while that anyone had dared call for a change of Mentri Besar, something that is strictly the prerogative of the Prime Minister.
Veiled threat
Radzi also made a veiled threat saying he had “records of the state Umno leadership's weaknesses which everyone in Perlis knew about”. Among the audience was Padang Besar Umno chief Datuk Zahidi Abdul Rahman who probably wished he was somewhere else so that he did not have to be caught in the crossfire.
Some said Radzi was reacting to remarks that Shahidan had made the previous night.
The Perlis strongman had criticised Radzi for scrapping the free-flow policy at the Malaysia-Thai border that allowed foreigners to move within a 3km stretch without the need for passports. It had helped pull in tourists to Perlis and Shahidan was upset at losing the special zone.
He also lashed out at Azmi for talking about polluted rivers in the state, saying that it was strange that Azmi, who had been around for years had only just noticed the condition of Perlis' rivers.
The strongman called it “interference from leaders with no posts in the state”.
Intense political rivalry is not new to Perlis. “It's a small place and people tend to get in each other's way. It was the same even when Perlis had only two divisions in the 1970s. Dr Mahathir said we were like North and South Korea,” said Tan Sri Hamid Pawanteh, the former Perlis Mentri Besar and now Dewan Negara president.
Shahidan, who took over from Hamid in 1995, is known for his warlord style of politics.
A lot of what is happening in Perlis stems from his larger-than-life personality, seemingly unlimited resources (he donated a brand new SUV to Tabung Haji when in Mecca) and the fact that he is not afraid to exercise his clout on those around him.
Proper forum
He is very hands-on, and party people credit him for checking the PAS advance in Perlis and turning the state from category grey to white. PAS has only one state seat, and Shahidan is not being boastful when he claims that he will deliver a clean sweep in the next polls. Radzi's open attacks have also not gone down well with many in Umno.
Perlis Umno Youth chief Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman said that a top party official like Radzi should air his views through the proper forum. “It's not the culture of Umno to do it this way. Our MB is cool about the whole thing and does not want to respond. The MB is sure that if there is a problem, the PM would have called him to talk,” said Rozabil. But according to Syed Razlan, Radzi “has had it up to here” (his nostrils) with the goings on in Perlis.
Syed Razlan, whose elder brother is the Perlis Sultan, claimed he has not had support from the state politicians in his four years as Arau MP. “Many of my functions are blocked, people are told not to come. Even when I wanted to hand over allocations to schools, some of the headmasters dared not come, while others sent their PIBG representatives.
“We have been keeping quiet, so please understand how we feel. People do not know what is going on, and it's easy to tell us not to make it public. People like me bear the brunt – allocations hijacked, programmes sabotaged. I would have used even stronger words than Radzi. It's time to call a spade a spade,” said Syed Razlan.
In Parliament recently, Syed Razlan had described the meagre investments flowing into Perlis the last five years as a joke. The other MPs, sensing his agenda, called out, “Change the Mentri Besar!” Some think that Syed Razlan has become a target because he is seen as a potential Mentri Besar.
New face
He is a relative new face who cut his teeth in politics when he defeated the charismatic PAS ulama Datuk Haron Din in the last elections. But Syed Razlan is really too junior for Shahidan to worry about and Azmi despite his macho looks is terribly afraid of confrontation. Shahidan's true match is the no-nonsense Radzi. The Home Minister told people that at 65, he is not power crazy but merely wants to see a more professional level of politics unfold in his homestate.
Radzi enjoys the implicit trust of Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who had personally asked him to return to active politics in 2004 before appointing him party secretary-general and then Home Minister. He is in a position to whisper into the Prime Minister's ears whereas Shahidan had the ears of the former Prime Minister.
But Shahidan, as Rozabil pointed out, enjoys broad support on the ground. “Just ask around, 95% are for him,” said Rozabil.
Both men have their strengths and their weaknesses. Given that, the Prime Minister will have to tread a thin line in dealing with the tigers of Perlis.
Radzi: Enjoys the implicit trust of the Prime Minister
Shahidan: His feud with Radzi boiled over last month.
Syed Razlan: Claims his programmes are being sabotaged.
NOTA: Just to remind Radzi: Siapa di Perlis mahu anda? Atau itu semua tidak penting?

KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA is considering allowing schools to cane unruly girls to curb an upsurge in discipline problems including gang fights and bullying, reports said on Wednesday.
Currently only boys are caned in Malaysian schools, but only rarely and for serious offences. The punishment is administered on the buttocks or the palm of the hand.
Deputy Education Minister, Noh Omar said a national education seminar this week had backed the proposal.
'This is because there are more girls in schools and some of them are becoming very problematic. Discipline problems are not confined to boys any more,' he told reporters.
KUALA LUMPUR: This year's Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2008 will be grander than before and is expected to attract about 1.5million visitors.
The fair, to be held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here from April 4-13, will also feature the first International Convention of the Book Industry from April 4-5. “The convention is for those in the industry to exchange opinions and ideas, and we hope this book fair will become as prominent as the London or Frankfurt Book Fair," said Deputy Education Minister Datuk Noh Omar at a press conference here on Wednesday.

The outbreak started on Jan 24 with 10 students from the boarding school showing symptoms like blocked nose, cough and high fever
However, they were allowed to return to their hostels after receiving outpatient treatment at the clinic in nearby Sabak Bernam.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Noh Omar said more students started showing symptoms of the influenza soon after and 13 had to be admitted to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital
