POLITICKING WITH MALAYSIAKINI: Umno Seremban.

I was cautioned by a man from Paroi Jaya not to touch on Seremban Umno for he thinks that I have no right to do so. I am not claiming all the right to question but for a person who has to queue like anybody else to cast a vote in Seremban's PRU12, I suppose my right is limited to a mere voter or worst still a layman, an unknown person. For today, I wish to share some politicking with Malaysiakini.

2 It was for the unknown persons that votes can go either way. The so called Umno leaders can yell out loud for being guys who make Umno tick. Little unknown persons are thousands of nobody who take part in any general elections to show some concern for Umno and Barisan Nasional. And they dont even claim to be the unsung heroes.....

3 These little unknown persons will never create tensions in any Umno elections. Somehow, every four years they keep coming to the polling booth to ease their minds. Some how, Seremban Umno guys must look far and below. It doesnt matter who rub shoulders with Mohamad. Mohamad is just another person like you, him, her and me.

4 Thousands still remember their membership number of Umno. I guess Umno will be alot wiser with members coming from all corners. A person from Kampung Ismail has every right to question the essence of leadership as much as another person from Jiboi or Paroi or Sikamat. Inputs must come from both sides of the coin.

5 I am looking at Seremban in a sentimental way. My emotions run low everytime I had to pass by Surau Hitam, because Surau Hitam will soon lose its blackness completely.

6 Leadership I suppose is more than showing up at functions and be generous with angpaus. Umno require persons who can translate and articulate things for the benefits of the malay in general. Leadership cannot limit their span for it has to be wide enough for EVERY malays from dusun nyior, ismail and sikamat to squeeze for a little shade from hot sun and heavy rain.

Leadership has to be visible, strong and fair.
Good luck, for Seremban is under million eyes.

SEREMBAN DIVISION TO MEET ON SATURDAY

SEREMBAN:
22 Dec 2008
The Umno division here has been told by the party's headquarters to hold its divisional meeting on Saturday.

Seremban Umno chief, Datuk Ishak Ismail said a team of observers from the headquarters would oversee the proceedings.

Its meeting of Nov 9 was postponed when a fracas broke out and two delegates were injured after being hit with chairs.

The commotion began after Ishak finished his opening speech. Sikamat branch head Datuk Md Yusof Harmain Shah questioned the legality of the meeting, claiming that there were doubts about the status of some branches.
Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik later advised Ishak to postpone the meeting to a date to be decided by the supreme council.

Said Ishak: "Five of the 13 branches under the division were instructed by the supreme council to meet before Dec 27 because their earlier meetings had been declared null and void."

The Jalan Tembak branch held its meeting on Sunday, while the Sri Aman, Gedung Lalang, Taman Jujur and Daching branches will meet soon.

Mengulas umnoparoijaya: UMNO NEGERI SEMBILAN RETAK !

Blogger Berita dari gunung said...

Sebelum nama Zakaria Nordin digugurkan lagi.

Sebenarnya seawal Mohamad Hasan memegang hampir sepuluh portfolio waktu awal-awal memerintah. Orang ramai hanya memerhati betapa Mohamad tidak amalkan teamwork. Betapa Mohamad sukar percaya pemimpin-pemimpin setempat.

Lalu ramai beranggapan Mohamad sangat akur dengan abangnya sendiri. Disitulah bermulanya anggapan UMNO Negeri Sembilan mulai retak.

FOCUS SEREMBAN: Division treasurer quits, committee member sacked

SEREMBAN: The Seremban Umno saga continued yesterday with the resignation of its treasurer, Arshad Jawi, while a committee member was sacked.

Arshad, the Taman Panchor Jaya branch chief, who was appointed as the division treasurer in 2004, cited dissatisfaction with division chief Datuk Ishak Ismail for his decision to quit.

He said he was upset with Ishak for failing to bring change for the past 20 years.

Division committee member Roshahar Mustafa, who is Ampangan branch chairman, said he was notified that he had been sacked a day before the divisional meeting on Sunday.

Meanwhile, former division secretary Datuk Md Yusof Harmain Shah, who was sacked earlier, had asked the party supreme council to conduct a investigation into what sparked the fracas at the divisional meeting on Sunday.

Yusof, the Sikamat branch chairman and former Sikamat assemblyman, said he was also upset with Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor's statement on the "sour" relationship between Seremban Umno and the state Umno liaison committee.

He said Tengku Adnan and the supreme council should be fair in all matters and listen to the grassroots.

"There is no problem between the state Umno and Seremban Umno, but only with Ishak."

SEREMBAN: Umno divisional meetings in the state progressed smoothly except for Seremban, where trouble was anticipated.

The smouldering rivalry between the division chief, Datuk Ishak Ismail, and vice-chief, Mohd Nor Awang, is no secret and a close fight for the divisional top post was on the cards.

However, about two weeks before the divisional meeting, the Umno supreme council disqualified Nor after he was charged in the Sessions Court for bribery.

Ishak went on to claim that the fracas at the divisional meeting on Nov 9 had been orchestrated by Nor so that the meeting would be postponed, giving him time to appeal his disqualification.

This was denied by Nor, who said he would make a report on the events to the supreme council.
Even before the state's divisional meetings kicked off, talk of camps and factions was rife.

Insiders claimed there was interference from party leaders to sway the divisional elections and nominations for senior party posts.

When Rembau Puteri division chief Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid did not receive any nomination from her division to run for national Puteri leader, she was quick to blame it on outside meddling.

The Rembau Puteri nomination went to Sabah Puteri Umno chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.

Bibi claimed it as "sabotage" by higher-ups out to discredit her and ruin her chances of going for the top Puteri post.

Eyebrows were also raised during the Rembau Youth division meeting recently, where it was expected that the nomination would unanimously go to Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the division's Youth leader, to contest the top Umno Youth post.

When the nominations were opened, a few delegates shouted for another candidate.

Though the nomination eventually went to Khairy, questions on the division's unity arose.

Several veteran Umno members said solidarity in the branches, divisions and among state leaders had to be given attention.

There was also not much unity to put Umno on a strong footing with the next general election only four years away.

For a start, the perception that one joins Umno to become rich must be eradicated, as Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has pointed out.

If the perception persists, DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat and Pas can look forward to raising their present tally of 15 out of 36 state seats at the next general election. -- By Patrick Sennyah
