Malaysia's former PM tells govt to take Anwar threat seriously - report

KUALA LUMPUR (Thomson Financial) - Malaysia's former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has warned the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition to take the threat posed by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim seriously, national news agency Bernama reported Wednesday.

Anwar has said he has convinced more than 30 BN members of parliament (MPs) to defect to his Pakatan Rakyat opposition alliance, which would allow it to form the next government, the report said.

'I feel very strong (about it), it can really happen. I first wanted to dismiss this possibility but on studying the situation I feel that there is great danger,'' Mahathir was quoted as saying. here
