Bad taste publicity stunt from Shamsul Iskandar PKR

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth chief, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin today spoke out against the threat made to him by Selangor police.

The 36-year-old Syariah lawyer said his previous statement on the murder case of cosmetics millionaire Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya, was merely questions, not allegations to the police.

"Firstly, I was only questioning whether there were any abuse of power within Banting police as they had failed to act on the missing person reports involving the lawyer suspects.

"None of the cases were taken seriously until Sosilawati's case were brought to public attention by the media," he said. ( PKR Youth chief hits back at police) malay mail 23 sep 2010

BANTING MURDER: Friend of cosmetics queen found dead

Just an update on the 2010 gruesome Banting murder:

GEORGE TOWN: A close friend of cosmetics queen Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya, who is suspected to have been murdered along with three others recently, was found dead in her bedroom in Taman Pauh Jaya, Bukit Mertajam, yesterday.

Sarina Jaafar, 45, the founder of Aveer cosmetics, was found about 8.30am by a relative, who had rushed to her house after receiving a call from her. At the time of the incident, Sarina was alone at home.

It was learnt that prior to the incident, Sarina, who was believed to be under stress, had called her relative to tell her that she was going to hang herself.

As soon as her relative arrived at her home with one of her children, she found Sarina already dead, hanging from the ceiling. She immediately took the body down.

Seberang Prai Tengah district deputy police chief Superintendent Mohan Singh said they received a call from a woman informing them about the incident.

When police arrived at her house, Sarina's body had already been taken down. Her remains were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.

Sarina, who has four children, aged between 16 and 24 from her first marriage, was a successful entrepreneur. She married a second time five years ago.

Meanwhile, Sarina's son Mohd Azrul Affendi Zakaria, 24, who rushed home from Kuala Lumpur, said he was informed of his mother's death by his younger sister.

Azrul, who believed his mother could have been under stress, said she told him recently that she had been hearing voices calling out to her from her father's grave.

"My mother was a loving person and never failed to look after our well-being. I last met her on Friday and advised her to be careful with her business after the recent murders.

"The murder of (Datuk) Sosilawati affected my mother as both were close friends and had known each another for a long time as they were in the same business line."

Azrul, who will be getting married in January, said instead of his wedding dinner, he now has to hold a kenduri for his mother.

Sarina was buried at the Bukit Minyak Muslim cemetery yesterday.

Sosilawati, Banting Murder.

Just an update on the gruesome Banting murder:

Two more nabbed over missing Indian businessman

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 18, 2010) : Police have made further progress in multiple murder probe involving two lawyers, with the arrest of two more suspects.

The suspects who are allegedly linked to the two lawyers arrested over the killing of the cosmetic company millionaire Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and her three associates on Aug 3, were picked up to assist in the probe of another case involving missing Indian businessman A.Muthuraja.

Selangor police chief DCP Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said police arrested a 34-year-old man in Taman Wilayah, Selayang late yesterday evening.

In a follow up operation just after midnight today, a second suspect, aged 21, was arrested at Kampung Laksamana, Batu Caves.

He said investigators believe both men can shed light into the case of the missing Indian businessman.

Muthuraja who had come to Malaysia to meet the lawyers in January, had never been seen again.
His wife, S Usharani lodged a police report on Sept 8 after months of trying to locate her husband.
The latest arrests brings the total number of those detained to 10 suspects.

It is learnt that more arrests are expected to follow in the coming days.

The disappearance of Sosilawati, her lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32, bank officer Noorhisham Mohammad, 38, and driver Kamaruddin Shamsuddin, 44 on Aug 30 uncovered probably the country's most gruesome case of mass homicide last week.

A 41-year-old lawyer who claimed to be a Datuk, and is believed to be the mastermind behind the killings, and his brother who is also a lawyer, are the main suspects.

Police discovered the four victims were lured to the lawyer's farm near Taman Gadong, Morib and clubbed to death before their bodies were burnt and the ashes later thrown into a nearby river.

Police believe they have built a strong case against the suspects and expect to charge them for the murders next week.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Datuk Ku Chin Wah said remand orders for eight suspects arrested last week, have been extended a further week until Sept 25
