Mahu serah Sarawak sama Karpal atau Anwar?

Apa orang Sarawak mahu serah sama Karpal?

Kita lupakan Anwar, sebab dia adalah kisah lalu, a gone case. Waktu dia marah-marah wartawan perempuan bila diaju hal Omega, dia dah silap langkah.

Kalau Anwar mengaku "YA! Saya mengaku kongkek pelacur itu!", tak ada siapa nak marah. Habis sangat orang cakap pelan-pelan....
  • eh, tak sangka
  • aku agak dah
  • ya ka?
  • betoi la macam depa kata
  • biasa la tu

Kalau betul orang Sarawak nak serah kepada Karpal, tak apa la. Karpal cekap bela orang, lagi banyak duit masuk lagi hebat dia bela, dia boleh tangguh kes selama-lamanya. Mungkin dia biasa guna ayat ini "What's in it for me?"

SARAWAK WITH MALAYSIAKINI: visit as good gesture

Call it Sarawak,

call it Bumi Kenyalang, both refer to the same land. It was meant to be a separate piece of land, had it not been for the regional geopolitical adventure by past leaders. We were made much closer by the regional pact in 1963. Malaysia was then born.

2. Anwar is dissecting Sarawak on its tribal lines, playing the tunes as much as he can. He entices the dayaks with the skill he perfected decades ago, since Baling people suffered through famines. Taib made it clear to Anwar as Perak Crisis escalated to the downfall of PR pact. Now with Najib recent visit still fresh with Sarawakians, I pressume the matter is clinched and considered closed. A given case borrowing a golf term.

Najib's visit to sarawak
a good gesture

[Bernama]

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's forthcoming working visit to Kuching and Miri is viewed as a "good gesture" to the people of Sarawak.

Former Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) president Datuk Peter Minos expresses optimism the prime minister-in-waiting will help the people, especially the Dayak community which continues to lag in economic and corporate sectors.

"Hopefully, he is mindful of the hardships faced by the people, especially in rural areas.

"This is, in view of the current economic situation which has put many rubber and oil palm smallholders in a predicament due to the drop in prices of the commodities and exhorbitant costs of pesticides and farming tools," he told Bernama here today.

On Thursday, Najib is scheduled to meet Bidayuh political and community leaders.

On the same day, the deputy prime minister will also attend a special investiture ceremony at the Astana here, to receive Sarawak's second highest award, the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang, which carries the title, 'Datuk Patinggi'.

The award will be bestowed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng.

Minos, an economist by training, said Najib's gesture to meet with Bidayuh leaders was a compliment to the community.

He said the community felt a lot needed to be done by the government, in terms of socio-economic development, to help it be on par with the other races in the country.

Like most rural communities, he said, the Bidayuh faced predicament on pertinent matters, including those related to native customary rights, and land ownership versus development issues.

Najib, who is also finance minister, is expected to arrive here with his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, on Wednesday night.

He will meet state Barisan Nasional leaders, besides attending a function at SMK St Thomas to present government aid to missionary schools in Sarawak and Sabah, as part of the government's economic stimulus.

He will close a three-day Sarawak Islamic Congress organised by the Sarawak Islamic Council in the evening and meet with executive members of the Dayak Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

As chairman of the National Disaster Committee, he will arrive in Miri to visit SMK Suai, Niah, to hand over disaster relief aid to flood victims in the area and the landslide relief centre at the Miri Red Crescent Association Centre before returning to Kuala Lumpur. -- BERNAMA

BEHIND MALAYSIAKINI: tearing Sarawak bamboo curtain?

It is more of a reason for school children to be taught history of Tanah Melayu, Malaya and Malaysia when Sim Kwang Yang wrote in Malaysiakini on tearing down the bamboo curtain. Those who frequented Borneo [an old name], dutifully submit to their sovereignty without a pause.

  • from malaysiakini
  • Sim Kwang Yang | Jan 3, 09 5:23pm
  • The banned entry of PKR MP N Gobalakrishnan into Sarawak on Christmas Eve has stirred up a mini-storm in both the Land of the Hornbills and the alternative media in West Malaysia. Once again, the question on the mind of many Malaysians is this: why should a citizen require a passport or a permit to travel to a territory within the Federation of Malaysia? Tear down Sarawak's bamboo curtain

2. It was at the height of Iraq war built-up that anyone passing through or stopping at UK and US airports was subjected to thorough physical check. Beards and hairs were scrutinized. Things inside the hand luggage were asked to be taken out and checked for bombs. Everyone [foreigners] has to take off shoes and walk bare-footed to eliminate chances of planted miniature bombs from exploding and killing thousands as it were. I suppose we simply has to abide by their laws.

3. It is quite normal for someone to make a gargling sound before spitting on the sidewalk over here. Some people dont care much what others may feel. But over there, on the land of white people one will be frown upon for spitting on sidewalks.

4. One may think that japanese are always agreeable with everybody simply because they nod perpetually. It is their way and respecting people's way, I suppose is a virtue.

5. The moment we start questioning peoples culture, language and belief, we are in deep trouble. Of course at times it is excusable for boys and girls to be jovial on sensitive issues. Remember the days when a person will sit and start ordering "a plate of flied lice please" followed by grins from his peers. That was fun. Nobody mean to hurt nobody [say it like an afro american]

6. There are alot of things we got learn out of the agreement between Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore and Tanah Melayu before Malaysia was formulated. I suppose guys back then were so good at negotiation skills to arrive at such a marvellous geopolitical joint venture. Lands were separated thousand miles and yet connected.

7. Then it was agreed for sabah and sarawak to catch up with the development, but at no time will their pace and interest be disturbed. Of course it has to be done that way. Otherwise sabah and sarawak will be swallowed by greedy people. And there are perculiar things like ketua hakim borneo. They have to experience being independent in the federated malaysia.

8. I suppose people like Nizar, Ngeh and Nga recognised the hairstyle of Temenggong Jugah, a colourful figure in the early days of Malaysia. I doubt if the videographer of lingamgate know who is Temenggong Jugah. Sarawakians will be mad if anybody make a hint that Temenggong Jugah probably was the official in the court of Malacca Sultanate before 1511.

9. Both Sabah and Sarawak has to be given due respect ......

BEING RACIAL WITH MALAYSIAKINI: The dayaks of Sarawak

It wasnt too long ago that some championed on the most suitable word for a particular race. Like the blacks or afro-americans hate to being called nigger. Like some who hate the word hindu or china tongsan or melayu malas. But of course the word pariah has been coined to cut accross races and regions. Pariahs in modern time is no more signifying a specific race. And the word nazis had gone the boundary of Germany to highlight a shrewd racial outlook.

2. Now the dayaks. They have not voiced out loud, but I just guess they would prefer to be known as sarawakians as being more specific as to their nationality. The Sarawakians are quite outward in their looking and are beginning to see themselves in a more geo-political approach. On that point, they have left Anwar and gangs by miles.

3. The Malaysian dayaks and the indonesians have agreed to cooperate in education, culture and humanities to enhance their geo-political outlook. I suppose Anwar really has to forget sarawak on his premiership pursuit, for his way of politics is deemed dangerous in there. To show Sarawakians his victorious political strategy, he should explore deeper and share with the dayaks and the melanaus what has he done while in the government for years. He is good with words but one should scrutinized deeper as to his deeds. Sarawakians do not need an outside person to tell them what is not right about Sarawak or Taib.

4. Just to share in case we had forgotten, Anwar's battle cry used to be famines in Baling during his memorable jump start in politics. Then as the tide was against him deep into the 90's his cry was Nepotisma and Kronisma. I suppose he is going to use the same cries again. There is the man, Anwar Ibrahim from Permatang Pauh or rather cherok tok kun.

5. With his impending court case, Anwar could just be a passing dream immediately forgotten the moment we wake up.

SARAWAK WITH MALAYSIAKINI: leave Sarawak alone

Elections are meant for people to choose government. Soon Sarawak will require new mandate to continue. Tony Thien and Rahmah touched on growing fears that Sarawak may deny entry to many more politicians.

  • Will others be banned from S'wak
  • Tony Thien | Dec 26, 08 1:01pm
  • There are growing fears that Sarawak may use its immigration powers to deny entry to Peninsula-based politicians, including PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim
  • Gobalakrishan: I know why I was kicked out
  • Rahmah Ghazali | Dec 26, 08 3:03pm
  • There are two key reasons why Kedah parliamentarian N Gobalakrishnan was banned from entering Sarawak on Wednesday.

2. I will start of by saying leave them, the Sarawakians alone. Whats seem excusable here, may not be so somewhere else.

3. Western style of pressure through demonstrations and protests [peaceful?] had been tried in China in 1989 following the collapse of Soviet Block, but resulted in the Tiananmen Square Massacre [referred to in Chinese as the June Fourth Incident].

4. Following the violence, the government conducted widespread arrests to suppress protesters and their supporters, cracked down on other protests around China, banned the foreign press from the country and strictly controlled coverage of the events in the PRC press. Members of the Party who had publicly sympathized with the protesters were purged, with several high-ranking members placed under house arrest, such as General Secretary Zhao ziyang . The violent suppression of the Tiananmen Square protest caused widespread international condemnation of the PRC government. But as Soviet crumbled further, China rose to greater height economically. [Tiananmen Square protests of 1989]

5. Political rallies and protests over here in the peninsular has gone a little bit too far. Things should stop as soon as the result of PRU12 was made known. Prolonging the political campaign beyond the permissible period is a bad taste. In fact Singapore will never allow the way things are boiling here. Jail's door is ever wide for deviants.

6. Anwar's updated date as the next prime minister is beginning to lose its surprise. On that note, it is only wise to ban would-be deviants from entering Sarawak. If allowed in, the chaos would be too much to handle, and Sarawak doesnt need that.

Sarawak is progressing ahead....

SCORE to help equitable wealth distribution: Taib

KUCHING: The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) is more than just a boon for the state’s economic progress as it will bring about greater equitability in the distribution of wealth among the people.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said in his Christmas and New Year message that the state government had planned numerous projects with the aim of improving the living standard of Sarawakians.

He said development projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, including SCORE, would expedite the state’s industrialisation efforts and stimulate more economic opportunities, which would in turn create more jobs for the people.

He added that SCORE would attract more foreign as well as local investors to the areas in the corridor.

“In short, in planning the development programmes, no race will be left out. At the same time, the negative factors that have held us back such as our colonial heritage, the inequitable economic achievement of our people and any negative feelings between them, will be removed.

“Therefore, all races will enjoy the fruits of our progress fairly,” said Taib, who is also the Planning and Resource Management Minister as well as the Sarawak Barisan Nasional chairman.

He pointed out that the focus of the government’s development programme were industrialisation, agriculture, education, infrastructure development, transportation and telecommunication and ICT. Taib said the people must have a more positive mindset.

The state required quality human resources to ensure that its industries would be vibrant.

“To realise our goal of making Sarawak an industrialised state, our multi-racial people must be big-hearted, diligent, dedicated, creative, highly disciplined, quality-focused, adaptable, sensitive to the needs of the market and competent in technical fields. All this, the government had taken into account in planning the state’s progress into the future,” he said.

SCORE has received enquiries for proposed investments amounting to RM65.4 billion in the short time since its launching in February this year. The amount came from just 18 major enquiries.

Recently, Japan’s Tokuyama Corporation announced its plan to open a polycrystalline silicon manufacturing facility in Samalaju, Bintulu — its first plant overseas.

The demand for polycrystalline silicon is growing rapidly globally, with its applications used in solar cells and other products.

SCORE covers an area of more than 70,000 sq km from Tanjung Manis to Similajau in Bintulu and is expected to drive the state’s real gross domestic product (RGDP) up to RM118 billion in 2030 from about RM26 billion this year.

The state’s GDP has been also projected to grow at seven per cent in 2030 as a result of SCORE, which could create some 2.5 million jobs for a population of about 4.6 million people.

The key elements of SCORE are energy, physical infrastructure, manpower and institutional setup, particularly the establishment of the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA).

The government has identified new growth nodes in Tanjung Manis, Mukah, Similajau, Baram and Tunoh for resource-based and energy intensive industries.

There are also secondary nodes covering Balleh, Murum, Samarakan, Long Lama, Semop, Balingian, Selangau, Bakun and Nanga Merit for small and medium industries and enterprises.

In terms of energy resources, the state has the potential to develop 20,000MW of power in Bakun, Balleh, Belaga, Murun and Baram; there are 1.467 million tonnes of coal in the Mukah-Balingian area and Nanga Merit; and natural gas amounting to 40.9 trillion cubic feet in Bintulu.

SCORE’s 10 priority industries are aluminium, steel, oil-based, glass, palm oil, fishing and aquaculture, livestock, timber-based, marine and tourism.

SARAWAK AND MALAYSIAKINI: Kenyalangs and vultures.

http://khaoyai.wordpress.com/2008/01/17/hornbills-threatened-by-climate-change/Not that I am a real Sarawakian. I am just a Malaysian, a unit in a bigger entity called Malaysians. A subset within a bigger set as it were. That's the kind of jargon Mr Leong would really like to say as he was pushing his 30 odd students to the limiting algebraic domain. Muda Mohd Noor is rather quick to point out the most appropriate issue in Malaysiakini on Gobalakrishnan claims.

  • MP 'denied' entry into S'wak from malaysiakini
  • Muda Mohd Noor | Dec 24, 08 7:07pm
  • PKR parliamentarian N Gobalakrishnan claims that he was denied entry into Sarawak by immigration officers at the Kuching International airport.

2. Our Puan Rohani many-many years ago if confronted with a similar situation would asked "Why do you think he was denied entry?". Knowing her so well, we were waiting patiently who would in the end give the most sensible answer.

3. Puan Rohani, our English teacher were very patient with us, accepting the most diverse of ideas and answers. We knew what she wanted for an answer.

When there are vultures flying low sniffing carcass down below, it is only proper to shoo them away.

No heart feeling,

ULASAN MALAYSIAKINI tukar kepala kenyalang SARAWAK

From Malaysiakini
Sim Kwang Yang | Nov 22, 08 12:12pm

comment
For Abdul Taib Mahmud's detractors to fulfill their dream of changing the chief minister of Sarawak, there is only one way, and that is through the next state election speculated to take place as early as next year ...
Changing the head hornbill in S'wak Malaysiakini

Dulu ramai jadi mangsa mainan Anwar. Sarawak jauh lebih suci.

SARAWAK: PRS President Dismisses Association With PKR

Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Datuk Seri Dr James Jemut Masing Saturday brushed aside rumours which alleged that the party is cooperating with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Speaking to reporters after chairing the PRS supreme council meeting here, he said that he could not determine where the rumours originated as well as why it had spread around.

He said the supreme council had also deliberated the issue in the meeting and those who attended had affirmed their loyalty to the Barisan Nasional coalition.

"We had no discussion with them (PKR) and don't not intend to (have talks with PKR)," he added.

All the supreme council members attended the meeting except for party secretary-general Datuk Dublin Unting who had been in a coma and is currently being treated at a medical centre in Kuching after suffering from a stroke in May.

A joke: Sarawak wants the post of Prime Minister

This is just a kopitiam kind of joke. Sarawakians said they had enough ministerial post, no need for more. But they asked" Can we have the Prime Minister's post?".  A fine afternoon seeping coffee amongs friends. We just wonder how would Abdullah Badawi reacts to this.

BERITADARIGUNUNG:
