Muhyiddin: Umno cannot afford to stay silent

PAGOH: Umno cannot afford to continue to remain quiet especially in the wake of the issues affecting the country.
Party deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) said Umno, as the backbone of the Government, cannot just remain quite as the "gloomy political climate" was hurting the country and investor confidence.
"People, not just locals but those outside the country, are asking what is happening to Malaysia," he said during his speech at the Pagoh Umno delegates meeting here Saturday.
Muhyiddin said he would continue to voice the issues facing the country as he did not want to carry the sin of knowing and not doing anything.
"If we allow these issues to remain, they are not going away or getting any better," he said.
He said Umno needed to do something quickly because, given the present climate, Umno would lose in the next general election.
"What can you do if you are not in the Government and instead become the opposition.
"As Barisan Nasional elections director who has been though 18 by-elections and elections, I know that we will lose if nothing is done to rectify the situation immediately," he said.

Intimidation against MACC must be stopped - Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin urged for a stop against the 'intimidation' and action towards the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior officers.

"I hope things like these (transfer of senior MACC officials) can be stopped immediately and the intimidation against MACC must stop. I can not accept attacks on institutions like the MACC.

"The transfer of these officers seems very strange and very disappointing as if it was a planned intimidation against MACC, which for me, weakens our institutions," he told reporters after officiating the Malaysian Youth Council Annual General Assembly on Friday.
