Wan Ahmad Farid the best candidate, says Ahmad Shabery Cheek

Deputy Home Minister Senator Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid is by far the best candidate to contest the Kuala Terengganu by-election said Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

He said the choice of Wan Farid by the Barisan Nasional will also see the coalition retain the seat which it won in the 2008 general election.

Ahmad Shabery is confident that the BN will better this time around in the by-election.

The seat fell vacant following the death of deputy education minister Datuk Razali Ismail on Nov. 28.

Parliament live telecast to continue (updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: The half-hour live telecast of proceedings in the Dewan Rakyat will continue.

Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the Cabinet had decided to go on with the telecast, but might decide to stop the broadcast at any time.

“This should be treated as a last chance for all MPs. We have to protect Parliament,” he said.
