Perlis BN picks smoke-free candidates
KANGAR: Only healthy non-smokers are on the list of potential Barisan Nasional candidates for Perlis, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
He said Home Affairs minister Datuk Seri Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad and Environmental and Natural Resources minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid were in the list as both were non-smokers.
KANGAR: Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad has expressed his intention "to contest anywhere, whether in a parliamentary or state seat".
He also made it clear that only Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman, could decide on who should contest in the general election. Radzi was reacting to news that he had been dropped by the Kangar Umno division to defend the parliamentary seat. Names of candidates were submitted to the party president by Dec 31.
KANGAR: Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid claims that his image and dignity has been affected following claims that he did not receive support from his Padang Besar Umno division.
He was reacting to a comment by Perlis Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who said that both Azmi and Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad did not receive any nomination from their respective Umno divisions to contest as election candidates.
NOTA: On smoking, lips will tell all. Red lips belongs to non smokers. Well, they still have a week left to prove they never touch ciggarettes. Anyway Radzi is of darker complexion, so naturally his lips are darker. That cannot be used as a proof of smoking activities.... hmmm. Holy Smoke!!
