FOCUS SEREMBAN: Division treasurer quits, committee member sacked

SEREMBAN: The Seremban Umno saga continued yesterday with the resignation of its treasurer, Arshad Jawi, while a committee member was sacked.

Arshad, the Taman Panchor Jaya branch chief, who was appointed as the division treasurer in 2004, cited dissatisfaction with division chief Datuk Ishak Ismail for his decision to quit.

He said he was upset with Ishak for failing to bring change for the past 20 years.

Division committee member Roshahar Mustafa, who is Ampangan branch chairman, said he was notified that he had been sacked a day before the divisional meeting on Sunday.

Meanwhile, former division secretary Datuk Md Yusof Harmain Shah, who was sacked earlier, had asked the party supreme council to conduct a investigation into what sparked the fracas at the divisional meeting on Sunday.

Yusof, the Sikamat branch chairman and former Sikamat assemblyman, said he was also upset with Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor's statement on the "sour" relationship between Seremban Umno and the state Umno liaison committee.

He said Tengku Adnan and the supreme council should be fair in all matters and listen to the grassroots.

"There is no problem between the state Umno and Seremban Umno, but only with Ishak."
