PETALING JAYA: Petrol station operators should ensure enough petrol supply to avoid a recurrence of stations running dry, said Petroleum Dealers’ Association of Malaysia acting president Abdul Wahid Bidin.
“This is to ensure that the operators are not penalised under the Control of Supplies Act,” he said in a press statement yesterday.
He said the association hoped the Government would consider various proposals submitted to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry to lessen the burden of the operators due to fluctuations in the price of petrol.
“The operators are incurring losses every time the petrol price is reduced.
“The last four reductions have affected the operators very badly.
“That is why a few dealers have taken steps to reduce their losses, resulting in petrol running out in certain areas of the country,” he said.
He also said the delivery schedule of petrol was the sole responsibility of the oil companies.
He urged the oil companies to distribute their supply efficiently based on the daily sales volume to ensure their operators had sufficient supply.
