"It looks very safe," he said.
"This is clearly a political game," Anwar told reporters.
"I am pleased with this decision (bail). I will proceed with my campaign," Anwar told reporters after the court appearance, where he was accompanied by his wife and daughters.
"This is a treacherous and malicious accusation," said Anwar, 60, after the charge was read in court.
"This is a slander, it is a malicious allegation and I am not guilty," Anwar said from the dock after being accused of sodomising 23-year-old aide Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan on June 26.
"Clearly this is political persecution, it is dirty politics of a man who has lost support and very soon will lose power. We will fight (the government), we will fight them hard," he said later Thursday.
"I am touched by the support. This is an overwhelming support," Anwar said as he arrived at the nomination centre in the Permatang Pauh constituency, which was locked down by barricades and an armed security presence.
"You can see the dirty tricks beginning in their campaign. It is corrupt and immoral to use religion and the Koran," Anwar said Sunday.
