Rosmah said she was confident that the former prime minister and his wife still loved Umno although they left the party in May.
She thanked Dr Mahathir for his willingness to grace the Ibu Zain Musical Theatre at Istana Budaya here tonight.
Speaking to reporters after meeting a delegation from the Malaysian Women Writers Association at her residence here Thursday, Rosmah, who is also the patron of the show, urged politicians especially women polticians to watch its as it portrayed Ibu Zain's life journey.
"Ibu Zain's encouraging words should be treasured by politicians especially Wanita and Puteri Umno members," she said.
Ibu Zain Musical Theatre executive producer Noraini Nordin said she also planned to stage the play in Permatang Pauh as part of the by-election campaign.
She said she would propose the idea to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who is heading the Barisan Nasional election machinery there.
The musical depicts the struggle of Ibu Zain whose real name is Tan Sri Zainon Munshi Sulaiman. Ibu Zain fought against the formation of the Malayan Union in 1946 and championed women's rights through Wanita Umno.
The play, which will be staged over seven days at Istana Budaya, ends on Monday.
