Hurricane Gustav Hits Gulf Coast

As the hurricane picked up speed and headed toward the Gulf Coast, nearly 2 million people evacuated New Orleans and surrounding cities for fear it would be as devastating as Hurricane Katrina three years ago. The storm, downgraded to Category 2, touched down Sept. 1.
