Vietnam:
Hanoi develops
vegetable growing areas
free from pesticide
The municipal department of agriculture and rural development has proposed a project to develop 38 organic vegetable growing areas, covering 20-50 hectares each.
Under the project, farmers will receive financial assistance to develop infrastructure, organise training courses, transfer technology and carry out some demonstration models.
The municipal administration and local authorities will intensify State management of the production and consumption of organic vegetables. They will promote the dissemination of information and the diffusion of technology, while helping consumers identify and select organic produce. They also plan to develop cooperatives and production associations to facilitate the growth and distribution of organic vegetables.
