WITH MALAYSIAKINI: King warns actions against divisive elements

In its effort to ensure peace and harmony in the country, the government will not hesitate to act against any quarters that try to divide the people.

After 51 years of independence, race relations continued to be exploited by some quarters, lamented Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin in his royal address at the first meeting of the second session of the 12th Parliament yesterday.

“The rights of the people which are enshrined in the Federal Constitution will be safeguarded and respected,” said the King.

He also reminded all quarters to respect the position of Islam as the official religion whilst others are free the practise their own beliefs.
