Datuk Conrad Mojuntin jailed six months

KOTA KINABALU: Former state minister Datuk Conrad Mojuntin was jailed six months by the High Court for criminal intimidation in connection with the fatal shooting of a man on Oct 23, 2005.

Conrad, 61, and his nephew David Mojuntin, 45, were also fined RM2,000 each or in default three months’ jail for causing hurt to businessman Chee Hee Fatt on the same date. They paid the fine.

Judge Abdul Rahman Sebli allowed Conrad a stay of execution of the jail sentence pending his appeal. Conrad was released on a RM5,000 bail.

On Dec 17, Justice Abdul Rahman overturned a magistrates court’s decision to acquit Conrad of criminal intimidation against one Doughty Disimon, 20, outside the SJD Club in the Penampang new township.

The magistrate also acquitted Conrad and David of causing hurt to Chee.

Justice Abdul Rahman held that the magistrate had gravely misdirected himself.
